Toothpaste and Mouthwash made at Home
Did you know that it is very easy to make your own toothpaste and mouthwash at home? Firstly, it will save you a considerable amount of money, and secondly, you can leave out all the unnecessary ingredients present in commercial toothpaste. Basically the cleaning of the teeth is not done by the toothpaste and the mouthwash, but the brushing motion and flossing. The time that you spend everyday for brushing is important; it should be a span of time between 2 and 4 minutes.
Baking soda is one of the basic ingredients used in toothpaste. Actually you can just sprinkle it on the palm of your hand, wet your manual or electric toothbrush and dip it in the baking soda. Just go ahead and brush your teeth with that, and it is a sure whitener for your teeth. Baking soda also has the power to kill germs and bacteria, and make your breath feel fresh. If you have plaque on your teeth, a little bit of salt can be added to it.
Bottle a mixture of baking soda and salt for your bathroom cabinet, but if you don’t fancy toothpowder and would rather have it in the form of toothpaste, you can just add some glycerine and water to the mixture and make it into a paste. Put some flavoured oil into it, and your homemade toothpaste can be compared to any toothpaste that you buy at the supermarket. Hydrogen peroxide is often used as one of the ingredients to be topped off with a light drop of peppermint oil.
Mouthwash can easily be made from herbs like fresh parsley or peppermint. They are fresh breath fresheners and if you chew them, their fragrance stays in your mouth for a very long time. It is possible to make a mouthwash by mixing baking soda, tree oil and peppermint oil with a small amount of water. Hence keeping your teeth clean and your breath fresh are certainly not an expensive affair, and the natural and herbal ingredients will go a long way to keep your teeth and gums healthy and clean.
